What is a dry ridge system?

Put simply, a dry ridge system offers both a point of ventilation at the top of the roof, and point of fixing for ridge tiles, and often down the length of the roof hip. Klober dry ridge systems help support modern building standards, and are tested to BS 8612 for Dry Fix Performance.

For ventilation support, all Klober dry ridge kits contain ridge rolls, which are installed at the apex and underneath the ridge tiles, offering a path for airflow to exit out the top of the roofline, preventing the build up of moisture and condensation, which can often lead to mold, rot and structural damage. Klober’s ridge rolls also have corrugated metal sides with adhesive backing, allowing the system to be rolled out and secured across the top of the roofline at either side of the roof, preventing wind-driven rain from accessing the inside of the roofspace. The ridge roll helps support the control of condensation in line with modern building standards, namely BS 5250.

For mechanical fixing, all Klober ridge kits include ridge seals, also known as unions, which support the ridge tiles in place above the ventilating ridge roll, protecting it from rainwater or harmful weather conditions. It is important that ridge and hip tiles are fixed in place to prevent them from slipping, allowing water to enter the roofspace, or potentially causing a hazard to passers by. The ridge seal supports building standards, BS 5534 for Installation and Mechanical Fixing.
